  • Coming back to the UK with settled status but it's not linked to current passport

Hi everyone. A friend is travelling to the UK tomorrow, she was granted Settled Status two years ago but the passport she used when she applied has expired and she has a new one. She realised she had forgotten to update the details of her passport with UK Immigration only last week. She updated them last Wednesday but the update has not been processed yet. As settled status is linked to the document used at the time of the application, what will happen when she tries to enter the UK tomorrow? She was hoping to reset the 5 year absence clock with her visit.. Should she try giving UK Immigration a call before she travels?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide us with!

    Afternoon,

Do bear in mind EU nationals can enter the UK without visas or any other formalities, using the e-gates, unless travelling with someone under 12. In the even she had to see an officer and in the event they asked any questions, she can always provide something that shows she has settled status, and if she got any confirmation of having requested the update, such as an email, she can just print that out just in case anyone asks.

Many thanks, she will bring proof of settled status (including a shared code) and the emailed she received from UK Immigration when she requested to update her document. Her fear really is not not being able to enter the UK, but not being able to reset the 5 year absence clock. She will keep all evidence of her presence in the UK should the need arise to produce it in the future. Thanks again!
