  • Query Delays in Citizenship decision - application submitted July 2021

Hi everyone, Hope you are doing well.

I had submitted my UK citizenship application in London on 15 July 2021 via Tier 2 General + 1 year ILR route. However, I have not received any communication from the Home office till date apart from the initial message which stated they have received my application.

I would like to know if anyone else in this forum is also facing similar delays and also what could be the possible reasons for such delays based on experience?

I have already sent emails enquiring about the status, but have not received a response yet. Please feel free to suggest best course of action and next steps that I can take. Thank you very much in advance.

    Regards!

    Morning,

I've moved this post to our waiting lounge, where you will see there are a number of people in similar situations: AN Waiting Lounge - UKCEN Citizenship and Residence for European Nationals and their families

From experience, timings have always been quite random, some applications have been approved in less than a month and the longest I've seen is two years, most take around 3-6 months, but there's no real pattern to explain the timings.

You may want to refer to this post: UK nationality applications taking over six months - UKCEN Citizenship and Residence for European Nationals and their families

    ...where we have:

If you applied over six months ago and haven't received a decision, you can contact the Home Office on the following email addresses:

    nationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk

    FurtherNationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk

    nationalitycaseworkdecisionservice@homeoffice.gov. uk

We cannot provide a template, since every case is different, some people may have received a letter warning that the application would take longer, others wouldn't have received this.

It's just a question of writing a brief note explaining that you applied on a certain date and that it has been over six months, which is the maximum time allowed to process applications, therefore you wish to enquire about the reason for the hold-up.

There is no cause for concern, just because an application is taking longer, it does not mean it has less chances of success.

    Processing times are quite random.

There is no evidence that shows certain types of applications take longer than others.

You may also want to get in touch with your MP, it doesn't matter what political party they represent, nor what their voting record is, they are there to help:
