UPDATE Up to six months to have the ceremony

Please note the following response received by one of our members who contacted the Nationality Team regarding ceremony arrangements, you will note you have up to six months to arrange the ceremony, not 12 weeks as some decision letters mention, so there is no need to stress if you can't have the ceremony within three months.

Thank you! The automated response was actually quite helpful to some extent. It said:

”... we can confirm that we have just completed the processing of certificates and ceremony invitations for applications that were approved in September and have now commenced processing those for applications approved early October.

Ceremony invites are sent by 2^nd class post and can take up to 10 working days to be delivered.

We will update our website with any new information, in particular, in relation to the time it might take to despatch certificates. Please be assured that once a customer receives their Citizenship Ceremony Invitation Letter, they will still have up to six months within which to complete ceremony.”

So hopefully that means I should be in the next “batch” of processed invitations.

Also please note that, if you applied with PR and haven't applied for settled status, you will need to apply if you don't have your ceremony before the end of June, as stated by the government on this page: Check if you can become a British citizen - GOV.UK

You must apply for permission to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021.

If you have not been granted citizenship and had a citizenship ceremony, apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021.

Citizenship applications usually take around 6 months to process and may take longer. You cannot stay in the UK after 30 June 2021 while you wait for citizenship, unless you have permission to stay here in another way. For example, if you have settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme.

A letter confirming your application has been successful isn't proof of status nor citizenship, so you will still need settled status.
