  • How-to Guide How to quote posts

When responding to a post, it is possible to quote the text of the post you are responding to. This is particularly relevant when you want to respond to a post that's not the last within a topic.

It is recommended to use the quote feature to make it clear who and what you are responding to.

It is possible to quote more than one post from a topic. See the video below to get an idea of how multi-quoting works.

Click the Quote button at the bottom of each post. Click image for larger version Name:	Quote.png Views:	1 Size:	5.8 KB ID:	783

On a phone, you click the dots at the bottom right of the post to show the Quote option.

The video shows how multi-quote works. It is quite simple when you know how.

When you click on the first post you wish to quote, you are directed to the reply box at the bottom of the thread. This is in case you just wish to quote a single post. The reply box will contain the full text of the post you have just quoted. If you only want to quote one post, you should type your response below the quoted text.

It is possible to edit the quoted text, for example, if you only wish to respond to part of it.

        Split quoting a post

It is possible to respond to individual parts of the same post by splitting the quotes. This requires you to copy and paste the text inside the square brackets [ ] as shown below. A quote consists of two parts:
        • The opening part contains a reference to the original post author and post number. This must be copied to the beginning of each separate chunk of text quoted separately. The opening part is highlighted in blue in the image below. This reference relates to just one post.
        • The closing part consists simply of the text [/QUOTE], and is the same regardless of what post you are quoting. The closing part is highlighted in red in the image below.
In this image, a single post has been split into three parts in order to respond to each one separately.

The above results in a post that looks like this:
